The old city moat is known as "Liebesgrund" (Love's Ground) by the people of Lüneburg. A large green space, a playground, and plenty of greenery invite visitors to relax, play, and stroll. Parts of the city wall are still visible, although it no longer measures 7 meters as it once did.

The Liebesgrund is a public park in northern Lüneburg, bordered on its long sides by slopes. A lovely place for walking, picnicking, or similar activities.
The name is self-explanatory. Sometimes musical events, children's festivals, or garden shows take place here. However, this wasn't always the case, as the area was originally part of the mighty city fortifications, consisting of a wall, rampart, wall, and moat. The Liebesgrund formed the moat in front of the outer wall between the Bardowick Gate and the bastion, hence the long, narrow depression.

Liebesgrund is the name of a park-like area on the Bardowicker Mauer. This wall is the last surviving piece of the old city wall. The pictures of me are autumn impressions.
You can go in by bike, you can circle it at the top and bottom. My tip: Once over the Bardowicker Mauer and back through the Liebesgrund.
In summer there is a playground for people and dogs, a sunbathing area to relax in and in winter, when there is snow, there is a toboggan run.
