In place of a previous building, master mason Anton Kunst built the "Imperial Post Office" between 1894 and 1896, incorporating the neighboring property.

The inauguration took place on October 1, 1896. At that time, the offices were on the ground floor and the post director's apartment was on the upper floor.
In 1899, the long-distance exchange was set up on the upper floor.
In 1925, a new telegraph office was built as an extension on Karl-Marx-Straße. In 2000, the building closed its doors to the public because a post office was set up on Bäckerstraße.

POST OFFICE BUILDING PERLEBERG
A Perleberg post office was built in the 17th century at the intersection of several fixed postal routes. After the station was expanded several times, this building was built as an imperial post office between 1894 and 1896. In 1899, a telephone exchange was set up, which was housed in a new building in 1925. In 1987, the post office building was honored on a Deutsche Post stamp.
