Built very close to the water. This is roughly how Gütersloh's popular promenade along the Dalkebach could be appropriately described. The adjacent path seldom deviates from the side of its brook and takes pedestrians and cyclists on an idyllic route across the city. Always in the country - always by the water.
The Dalkebach, a typical sand brook that rises in the Senne, runs through the city from east to west until it finally flows into the Ems in the Pavenstädt district. Over a length of about ten kilometers, the Dalkebach is accompanied by its promenade of the same name. Starting in the open landscape at the Strangmühle, Spexarder Straße, the Dalkeweg runs through and connects such important green areas as the city park, the botanical garden or the Riegerpark with the adjacent urban and residential areas. In the west, the green path connection then bears the name "Paul-Westerfrölke-Weg". At the Neue Mühle, shortly before the confluence with the Ems, the end of the Dalkepromenade is finally reached. A future connection to the Ems cycle path is particularly desirable and is already on the planners' agenda.
