Anyone travelling by bike will enjoy the Leine-Heide cycle path. Simply follow the signs and enjoy the variety (river, bridges, gravel or asphalt paths) on flat terrain.

Here is a "brief" insight into my tour from Göttingen to Hanover. In Göttingen, the Leine accompanies us and we head out of the city on well-developed paths. I started early and was able to experience the sunrise in the early morning mist - OMG, what a great experience 🤩👍🏼.

The Alte Leine nature reserve near Hanover is really stunning 🔝 and I will definitely be wandering around here on two legs again. I think there is still a lot to marvel at at the Koldinger lakes 👍🏼.

What is there to see:
- NSG Leiniederung Salzderhelden
- the Marienburg
- NSG Leineaue
- NSG Alte Leine
- Maschsee (bathing area with changing rooms)

Places to stop:
Lütenrode - Mc Donald (14.6km)
Einbeck - Bill's Backstube (39.2km)
Alfeld - Rewe (no salad bar 😕), Aldi (70km)
Gronau (beautiful city center!) (86km)
Schulenburg (Leine) - Nah und Gut (108km)

I wouldn't recommend this section to anyone who is expecting a leisurely and well-signposted day tour:
- it often goes along main and country roads
- cycle paths are often mandatory
- signage is often missing - a sat nav is necessary

Tour information:
At Marienberg Castle, the Leine-Heide cycle path points to the right. Then there are two more signposts, but you end up on a dirt road at the back of the forest - just stupid, without any signage 💩🤬. Please follow the komoot tour here. Nobody wants to go back via the B3 if they have booked nature 😃

At the height of "Koldinger Seen" (near Hanover) not all sections are in optimal condition due to the flooding. Dangers are marked with beacons. More information about the tour (route and possible closures) - leineheideradweg.de/index.html
