On the edge of the peat bogs, the observation tower stands out with its rustic wooden structure, as if it had always been part of this landscape. A narrow footbridge leads over the shallow, dark water, which reflects the clouds like a mirror. The walk up rewards you with a wonderful view over the moor, where small lakes stand out like oases in a sea of heather and pine trees.
It is a peaceful place, ideal for a break and a bit of bird watching - you might even spot a crane or some other typical moorland inhabitants. In some places the ground is a bit damp, so waterproof shoes are a good choice. The wooden planks can be a bit slippery after a rain shower, so be careful.
Although the views are fascinating, the signage could be more informative here and there to learn more about the flora and fauna. Nevertheless, the place offers an intense nature experience and invites you to just stop and enjoy the silence.
