The history of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Miskolc
The XVII-XVIII. In the 19th century, a larger number of Orthodox families (Greek, Makedovlah, Arnaut, etc.) came from the Balkans to the territory of the Kingdom of Hungary - subjects of the Turkish Empire - who settled there and began a new life in the main cities of the country with activity Economic activity. Their main occupation was trading, and even in this livelihood their sense of community prevailed: they founded trading companies, so-called “companies”. They became rich through their modest lifestyle combined with their ability to trade. But with the continued growth of their wealth came their willingness to make sacrifices, particularly with regard to the founding and expansion of their parishes.
