Next to the Protestant town church on the church square is the Roth Castle Court Player Fountain. This modern fountain presents four bronze figures from the Commedia dell'arte on its marble fountain column: Pantalone, Arlecchino, Colombina and Isabella. The Commedia dell'arte emerged in markets and squares in Italy from the 16th century. Fixed typical characters with costumes and masks appeared in improvised stories. This impromptu theater was folksy and comedic.
