This section runs through the valley of the Fella River, between Alpine villages and green pastures. Tarvisio, the most important town for mountain tourism in Friuli, is an excellent starting point and a must-see for anyone cycling the entire Alpe Adria Cycle Route. In the Val Canale, you can pedal at your leisure and also stop in Valbruna, Ugovizza, and Malborghetto, places rich in historical and cultural heritage that serve as starting points for mountain bike excursions across the entire arc of the Julian and Eastern Carnic Alps. Pontebba, once a border station and important railway junction, is easily accessible for all cyclists. There, you can board the train+bike to return to Tarvisio or descend to the plains. The Canal del Ferro, a valley nestled between the walls of the mountains above, offers little space for human settlement: the small villages of Pietratagliata and Dogna are testament to this.
