At this point you currently (=SEP23) have the best possible view of the city (when the trees grow, this will soon change).
It's a shame that from the west of the city you can only see the Messeturm.
From both driveways, this is the best way to look over your shoulder.
And by the way: be careful when you potentially stop. There is nothing to stop at this point. And the motorcyclists in particular race past extremely quickly - because of the straight just before the summit. It doesn't help much to take precautions like having lights on. I always have my front AND rear lights on at dawn or dusk anyway (Garmin Varia radar is really nerve-racking when the motorbikes come speeding towards me), because in the dark forest passages with the low, blinding sun, even as a driver I find it difficult to see the fast cyclists. So choose all the options that are still just about possible.
But in the morning, when everything is still quite relaxed (there are actually no people up there, while in the evening it is packed), it is a real reward that you can't get from the summit (except from the paid visitor platform, which has semi-optimal opening times and I would hardly leave my expensive bike).
So: the (shoulder) glance is worth its weight in gold. Even on the Altkönig in front of you there is no such clear view.
Have fun and cheers!
