This small town of just 100 people witnessed a struggle by water protectors in January 2021 to block the passage of a pipeline known as Line 3 from Alberta in Canada to in Superior, Wisconsin, USA. It is a land where wild rice grows naturally. It must be preserved. Here you will find a unique café in the only main street of the village. Line 3 unfortunately pierced an aquifer and the company Enbridge was ordered to pay 3 million for the damage caused to the environment.
