Once you have passed through the entrance gate, you are in another world.
The spacious temple complex is located in Berkeley, near Wollongong, New South Wales and is easily accessible from the motorway. The complex consists of a spacious park, the main temple, a pagoda, a restaurant, a guest house and, on the other side of the motorway, an institute and café.
"Nan Tien" literally means 'Paradise of the South' in Chinese. It is the largest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere. You can reach it directly from the motorway. Since the temple opened in October 1995, it has become a new meeting place for local and international tourists and also functions as an important cultural center that builds a bridge between different cultures.
The restaurant under the temple and the café on the institute side are also recommended. Everything is vegan, but still delicious.
