The edge gap is located at the entrance to the via ferrata from the Höllentalferner and can be a challenge, especially in late summer.

Depending on the conditions, the almost vertical rock face can still be reached by straddling. Self-protection is only possible to a limited extent here, which is why this requires overcoming.

Iron steps are only a few meters above the glacier, so the first few meters have to be overcome by pulling up on the loosely hanging wire rope.

The rim gap depends on the current season and weather conditions. In midsummer, it's naturally wider because more snow has melted. In general, taller people definitely have an advantage here, as they can reach the first via ferrata with a longer stride.
