This pump from 1774 is central to the Beestenmarkt.

Historical interpretation: One third of the Beestenmarkt belonged to the monastery complex of the Cross Brothers from 1429 to 1554. The monastery was severely damaged during the great city fire in 1554. In 1578 the Crusaders left the remains. the open space in front of the monastery was used as the Nieuwe Beestenmarkt from 1580 onwards. Several livestock markets are held here every year, sometimes lasting up to six days. Triggered? Be sure to come and take a look at this beast.

Footnote about the pump. This pump was originally located on the Grote Markt. In 1853 the pump was moved to the site to replace the wooden pump. The residents of the city center of Goese got their water from this pump.
