The new opera house was built in 1906, but only inaugurated in 1923. The 18th century corporal opera house did not survive a fire in 1903. The building in Louis XVI style is topped by a statue of Apollo with nine muses. This building was completely restored inside and equipped with the latest gadgets, reopening in 2003.
