»Queen Tamar's Bridge« (თანარის ხიდი) is located in the Shida Kartli region, Kaspi municipality, near the village of Chathubeti. It is part of the Rkoni monastery complex. In the XII. and XIII. In the 19th century important trade and military-strategic roads passed through Shida Kartli, connecting Shida Kartli with Javakheti, Trialeti and the Middle East. This contributed to the construction of the monastery in Rkoni. The complex consists of monuments from different eras. The Rkoni Bridge crosses the Tedzami River and dates back to the 12th century. and XIII. Century. It is a semicircular bridge 12.5 m long and 2.2 m wide. The bridge piers are based on a natural rock foundation and are built of crushed stone on lime mortar. The bridge has been preserved in its original form. It is also one of the best examples of Georgian feudal bridges.
