This bird hide overlooks Gorenbroek, which is part of the Webbekomsbroek-Borchbeemden nature reserve. This stretch is located between the highway and Sint-Jansberg. You see and hear the highway. Mainly reed land and accessible via a decent path with wood and wood chips. You don't see much water, but it is there, just like the vegetation and fauna. In the viewing hut there is also an information board about Gorenbroek and a second one about the nature works in which it is also involved.
A quote: "The name Gorenbroek is a combination of the historical words 'goor' or 'gjor', which means marshy marsh or wet meadow, and 'broek': swamp, mud. Originally, this area consisted of swampy hay meadows that regularly flooded because the still unimpressed, Demer regularly overflowed its banks." Here, too, desiccation occurred, which efforts are being made to stop it.
If you want to explore this area further, boots are an absolute necessity. There is also a lot of (sloping) peat.
