The Eksterhoeve was one of the old leased farms of the Sint-Jansberg monastery, embraced by the Zwart Water. Surface finds in the area show that people already lived here during the
late Mesolithic (arrowheads, scrapers, tools of about 11000 years old).

Semi-enclosed farm with brick buildings under tiled saddleback roofs grouped around a rectangular yard. The facades have been significantly modified, yet the core dates back to the 18th century; this core is clearly visible in the side walls of the transverse barn, which feature wickerwork, finials, and shoulder pieces. The Eksterhoek farm is a protected building. Surface finds from the late Mesolithic period (arrowheads, scrapers, and tools dating back approximately 11,000 years) were made near the farm.
