Wayramachay is similar to many other Andean highland villages, with a few dozen stone dwellings with farmland and a few horses scattered around. A creek flows beside the village and clouds often block out the sun here. There are no roads for vehicles to come here. If you are doing the Salkantay Trek, after the pass of the same name, there is a long descent to this village, through rapidly changing landscapes, from bare rocks to a river valley lush with powder blue lupins. It is an impressive contrast between the ascent and the landscape that presents itself on the descent. This place is a nice place to have a meal or recover from altitude fatigue before continuing.
