Castles of St. Oedenrode'
Castle Henkenshage. A former fortified farm, known as Strijpe or Streepe in the fourteenth century. This was bought in 1850 by Pieter Jacob de Girard de Mielet van Coehoorn and was given its current form as a country residence. In fact, the building is not a real castle, but a country house.
Castle Dommelrode is a former castle, which was built in 1605 by the quartermaster of Peelland. It was a monastery for a long time, but now functions as the town hall of Sint-Oedenrode and later as a meeting location for Meijerijstad.
De Laar Castle with farmsteads formed the complex De Laar, which was founded in 1360. To the left of the road from St. Oedenrode to Nijnsel, at the end of a cul-de-sac, is the farmstead De Grote Laar. It is all that remains of the De Laar complex. The heavy foundations of the castle, more than two meters thick, are in the ground.
