Three crosses are visible from afar on the rock that marks the narrow point of the Elbe, the gateway to Bohemia (or from Bohemia to the German lands 😉). 239m above the Elbe, a steep rock, flat gneiss (hardly found anywhere else here). The Emerald Lizard is said to live here.

Not only one cross greets the hiker here, but a group of three crosses - as the name "Three Cross Mountain" suggests - we find on this mountain. A wayside cross or summit cross commemorates the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, namely the middle one. The other two are not here without reason: According to biblical tradition, Jesus Christ was not condemned to death by the cross and executed alone, but together with two criminals (see, for example, the evangelist Luke 22:33):
