The Taksensand Lighthouse, originally 32 m high and tapering towards the top, was commissioned in 1905 on a round natural stone base on the eastern beach of the island of Als. The base and tower each have a walkway with railings.

Access to the tower is from a low cliff behind the beach via an

11 m long steel bridge with wooden planks.

The 7.45 m high base has a diameter of 7.60 m at the base and tapers slightly towards the top. The tower has a wall thickness of 1.11 m at the base, which tapers to 0.54 m at the top. The watchroom was located beneath the lantern, and the equipment room below it. The striking Taksensand Lighthouse was equipped with a third-order gyroscope, and the lighthouse was powered by a kerosene burner.

Identification was initially achieved by means of blinds, and from 1923 onwards by an electric rotary drive. In 1947, the light source was converted to blue gas.

In 1953, the lighthouse was reduced to its current height of 19 m during extensive repair and reconstruction work, as its light was now only relevant for nearby shipping. The light source was presumably converted to electric operation in the same year. A photo of the Taksensand Lighthouse today can be found at leuchtturm-anke.de. The Taksensand lighthouse keeper's house was demolished in 1992.

The island of Als in the Sønderborg district belonged to Prussia after the German-Danish War. After the German-Danish War, North Schleswig was ceded to Denmark on June 15, 1920, and the lighthouse was taken over by the Royal Danish Lighthouse.

Taksensand is another distinctive lighthouse of the area. The lighthouse was built in 1905 and was originally 32 m high.

In 1953, the lighthouse was shortened to the current 19 m. The lighthouse is placed on the edge of the beach and its raw fieldstone base creates a beautiful interaction with the stony beach.

Originally it was a few meters higher, but in 1953 the tower was shortened from 32m to just 19m during extensive renovation work.

It is quiet here. Peaceful. The sea sparkles through the trees of Nørreskov, which extends right to the beach, and - the closer you get to Taksensand Fyr - here and there you can see the brilliant white of the lighthouse.

A great sight. Again and again. Then, when you arrive at the beach, you see the lighthouse standing on the mighty granite base. Defying all adversities and the forces of nature.
