In the time since her election as abbess in 1995, Mother Laetitia Fech has transformed the decaying monastery into a modern commercial enterprise. It creates jobs not only in the city but also in the wider area, although only six sisters still live in the abbey.
The guesthouse Sankt Joseph, which offers warm hospitality and three-star comfort behind medieval walls, does the most credit. A sad ruin for many years, it was reopened in 2008 with a sensitive mix of historical substance and modern elements.

Guests can browse for souvenirs in the monastery shop, which offers numerous works of art and homemade specialties, or use the modern event rooms with rustic monastery flair.
