The track runs along the edge of the Hoyos de Lloroza and reaches the Horcadina de Covarrobres pass, the threshold of the Áliva Passes in this sector. The path that goes off to the left before the pass runs through the base of the Peña Olvidada and Peña Vieja watchtowers towards the interior of the Massif Central or the Urrieles via La Vueltona and Horcados Rojos. The trail jumps through Covarrobres and follows the mountain track for an extraordinary spectacle. At the curve of the Juan Toribio pass, there is a detour to the right that cuts off the Chalet Real hairpin. The path skirts the cliffs of Los Cuetos de Juan Toribio and goes down directly to the buildings of the Hotel Áliva, open all year with rooms for two to six people, restaurant and cafeteria, a mountain oasis in the green heart of the Picos de Europa . The mountain hotel is planted on the edge of the Llomba del Toro, an old lateral moraine four kilometers long between the Urrieles and Andara, at the head of the Duje and relevant testimony of the modeling of the glaciers during the Quaternary.
The trail coincides with the layout of the short-distance trail PR-PNPE 24 of the Picos de Europa National Park, goes down through the meadows of the Puertos de Áliva and connects with the path of the GR-202 trail, known as Ruta de la Reconquista because it was the path used by the Muslim troops after the defeat suffered in Covadonga by the local mountaineers under the command of the warrior Pelayo. The track is open to traffic from the local grazing and hotel taxi service and vehicles may appear.
