The Berlin banker and art collector Benoit Oppenheim took the villas of the great Italian master builder Andrea Palladio as a model for his country house above the beach in Heringsdorf. The pillared porch with outside stairs and triangular gable is typical of its style. Hermann von der Hunde probably implemented the client's wishes. He had already worked for Oppenheim in Berlin.

The Villa Oppenheim at Delbrückstrasse 11 in Heringsdorf is one of the best-known examples of seaside villas on the island of Usedom.
It was built in 1883 as a summer villa for the family of the banker Benoît Oppenheim Sr. (1842–1931). It is no longer possible to determine with certainty who designed the neoclassical white building on the beach promenade, which is decorated with four Corinthian columns; however, it may have been designed by the Berlin architect Hermann von der Hude.
