It is located on Weißeritzstrasse on the eastern edge of Friedrichstadt, not far from the congress center. The building, planned by Martin Hammitzsch from 1908 to 1909, has a total height of 62 meters and is now used as an office building.

In 1886, the entrepreneur Hugo Zietz founded his “Oriental Tobacco and Cigarette Factory Yenidze” in Dresden - named after the tobacco-growing area around the small town of Giannitsa in what is now Greece, whose Turkish name was Yenidze. In 1907 he commissioned the architect Martin Hammitzsch to build a factory, which, however, was subject to special conditions: in Dresden's city center it was forbidden to build factory buildings that were recognizable as such. This is why Zietz came up with the idea of building the factory in the style of a mosque - so the building not only met the city's requirements, but was also a memorable advertising monument for the oriental cigarette brands. In 1909 the Yenidze was completed and opened. Only 15 years later, the production facility was sold to the Reemtsma Group, which continued to run it until 1953.
