St. Peter's Basilica is truly large and complex. You'll find Michelangelo's Pieta right after the entrance on the right side (on the wall), or if you go through the Holy Door, then on the right 😉.

The Pietà, by Michelangelo, is one of the most famous art pieces in history and one of the classic masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance. It shows Christ after his crucification being held by his mother, Mary. Michelangelo sculpted this beautiful piece out of Carrara marble early on in his career at the ripe young age of 23. It was one of his first major art works, not a bad effort for a beginner!
