In the spring of 2023, the play forest in Averbode was completely renovated.
A multi-move path was constructed in the new play area over a route of approximately 2 km.
The multi-move path concept is an initiative of the Agency for Nature and Forests and Sport Flanders.
Both agencies want to get children back outside to play.
Along the course you will find no fewer than 12 different play and exercise elements.
In this way, children can practice fundamental movement skills such as climbing, jumping and landing, balancing, pulling and pushing, etc.
The natural obstacles and wooden structures provide an ideal mix of exercise and nature experience.
The play forest and the multi-move path are part of the adventurous 'Kinderen Baas' walks within Landschapspark de Merode and were developed by the Regional Landscape Noord-Hageland in consultation with various partners. They are located near walking junction 100, the most popular walking junction in Flanders. Within walking distance you will find the Abbey of Averbode and the Lekdreef. This makes it the ideal route to go out with the family and explore!
This project was realized with financial support from the city of Scherpenheuvel-Zichem and the landscape park de Merode in collaboration with Regional Landscape Noord-Hageland, Agency for Nature and Forest, Sport Flanders and the city of Scherpenheuvel -Zichem.
