These vintage cars belong to Cuba like the Cologne Cathedral belongs to Cologne. An absolute MUST when you're in Havana, but it still takes money out of tourists' pockets!
The self-experience provides information about why:
Around the "Parque Central" in the center of Havana are the expensive ones and the cheaper ones in the adjacent side streets. The prices vary between 30 and 55 dollars for 1 hour city tour. Most of the time they appear together. The "entertainer" who comments on the tour and the "driver". Without a doubt, the ride through the city at the beginning, past the Capitol and to Revolution Square and also along the Malecón (coast road) at the end is great.
However, and this is what is not mentioned at the beginning, you also drive to 2 stations (one in the park with the huge trees and the other is a restaurant) where a 15-minute stay is planned. So a 1-hour round trip becomes only 30 minutes pure travel time. If, like us, you refuse the 2nd stop, the hospitality changes immediately!
And at the end of the trip, it is still possible to have your picture taken with the vintage car - but of course not without a certain amount of compensation. Then the driver suddenly becomes a family man with 6 children...
