Riópar Viejo is a small town in the heart of the natural park of Calares del Mundo and Sima. It was abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century due to the emigration of its inhabitants to other places in search of work. Today, it is a popular tourist spot due to its rustic and secluded atmosphere, and the surviving ruins and ancient structures, such as the 16th-century church, castle remains, and old stone houses.
