Middelfart is a seaside town whose history is closely linked to the waters of the Little Belt, ferry traffic and the many harbor porpoises that live in the waters. Middelfart was home to many smaller merchant ships and ferries before the Little Belt bridges connected Funen and Jutland. Today there are 10 traditional ships worth preserving in the harbour.

Middelfart's Old Harbor is located where the Little Belt is at its smallest, between the two bridges. Its location, close to the city and overlooking the bustling Belt, attracts sailors who enjoy both the active harbor and city life.

There's never a dull moment here; something's happening every minute.

The harbor's backyard is also unique, with its Hanging Gardens, located on terraces between charming little houses overlooking the harbor.

This also applies to motorboats, sailboats, and wooden ships. In 2023, the harbor was designated a Maritime Cultural Harbor by the Ship Preservation Foundation.

The harbor is small and has space for approximately 60 boats.

The marina is attractive for larger vessels due to its depth, but everyone is welcome. However, it only offers the most essential amenities.

On the other hand, you're close to the old town and the new harbor promenade with restaurants and many shopping opportunities. Also visit the waterfront cultural island, which offers year-round experiences such as a cinema and concert hall.
