    The well-preserved medieval moated castle in Brome is one of the most important historic fortifications in the Gifhorn district. The castle is a listed building and is used as a local history museum. The focus is on rural self-sufficiency and old handicrafts.

    There is also a castle café on site. It is open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

    In the Burggarten you can marvel at bee colonies and from there you can get directly to the ears.

          Brome Castle is a moated castle that was probably founded by Henry the Lion before 1195. The castle crew was supposed to monitor the nearby border with the Mark Brandenburg. The most prominent guest was Emperor Charles IV, who took possession of the castle personally in 1376.
          The main building still standing today dates from the Renaissance. Until the 20th century it served as the seat of a castle bailiff, who was responsible for the administration of the surrounding villages.
          From 2009 to 2014 the building, which was in acute danger of collapsing, was extensively renovated and re-funded. The remains of the castle's own brewery from the 16th century were discovered. They have been preserved and can now be seen in the entrance area.
