The Drömling is an approximately 340 km ² large and sparsely populated lowland area on the border between Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. The larger Saxony-Anhalt part in the east has been a nature park since 1990. The former swamp area was transformed in the 18th century on the instructions of Frederick the Great by draining from a natural into a cultural landscape. Today, the lowlands of the Mittelland Canal and the Aller and Ohre rivers provide refuge for rare or endangered species of flora and fauna. It consists mostly of nature and landscape conservation areas. (Wikip.)

The secluded Drömling is very water-rich, which enables the observation of animals that need appropriate retreats. Most of the paths are well paved and can be navigated without any problems.
