The Stadtkirche St.-Jacobi-Kirche zu Nauen is one of the oldest buildings in the historic old town of Nauen. It is a three-nave late Gothic brick hall church five bays long with a gallery closed on five sides. The bell tower, transversely in front of the church interior to the west, still impressively shows the traces of the fire of 1695. Since the great city fire of 1695, it has been rebuilt several times. The tower with its tower clock with dials in all four directions and its two striking bells dominates the cityscape with its baroque crown. The oldest surviving piece of equipment is the altar inserted between the eastern choir pillars. The altar, completed in 1710, shows distinctive baroque forms. A crucifixion group is shown in the altar in a rococo frame. The exceptionally richly designed, high-baroque baptismal font in the "Italian style" was created in 1724 by Schlueter's student Johann Georg Glume. Rows of columns to the right and left, altar and baptismal font show and clarify the importance of building the church for the people of the 14th century.

The Church of St. Jacobi dates back to the late Middle Ages. At the beginning of the 15th century, around 1400 to be precise, the people of Nauen had the church built, which is architecturally of the Brick Gothic style. Only half a century later, in the second half of the 15th century, was the chancel with the altar completed. In the course of the Reformation, the church became Protestant in the 16th century. At the end of the 17th century, a fire destroyed the building, after which the community had the church rebuilt in 1695. Twelve years later, in 1707, the 55 m high tower with its baroque dome was placed on the original substructure. Towards the end of the 19th century the church received an organ built in 1874 by the Heerwagen workshop.
