The qualified engineer Jürgen Wiegen built the 12 meter high work of art in his garden in the summer of 2014. The metal construction is painted ultramarine blue and its effect can very well be understood as a landmark.

Although the work of art is accessible, there is no access for the public.

The Blue Chair project by Jürgen Wiegen in Bönen follows the tradition of large scale objects in the twentieth century. This art was created in the 70s of the last century. The main representative of these oversized forms and sculptures in the public landscape is the American pop artist Claes Oldenburg.

The essence of these sculptures is to magnify everyday objects many times over. This approach to the scale of things is received surprisingly positively by most people.
