The first chapel in Booischot was built in the 15th century. Over the centuries, it was repeatedly renovated and expanded. The lords of Ter Laken, the della Faille de Leverghem family, often played a significant role in this, including by providing funding for renovations.
In 1856, the chapel was demolished, and construction of the current neo-Gothic church began. Inside, we still find several old works of art, likely originating from the former chapel. Most notable are the 15 obit (funeral plaques), painted in memory of the deceased nobles of Hof Ter Laken.
