At the end of the Pont-Vieux de Carcassonne, at the entrance to the rue des Trois-Couronnes, stands a medieval chapel known as Notre-Dame de la Santé, which was also called Notre-Dame from Bout du Pont. Indeed, the small aedicula is close to the former hospital for the sick. From the middle of the 15th century, the sanctuary where the faithful flock to ask for the healing of one of their loved ones is considered too small. In 1497, Pierre Jauffre bequeathed a large sum for the construction of a chapel. A few decades later, in 1527, Jean Saix donated 4,000 pounds to enlarge the hospital for the plague-stricken and the sanctuary. The sick but also the faithful of the city and the village flock there on the occasion of the Marian feasts, in particular on March 25, the feast of the Annunciation.
