Situated in Floriana, The Malls Gardens offers visitors a beautiful garden dating back to the 17th century. With a relaxed atmosphere, The Mall Gardens are the perfect spot for a walk, a reading session or to spend some quality time before or after visiting Valletta.
You can think of the Mall Gardens as the entry lane to Valletta. The promenade draws a straight line from Floriana to the capital city and connects the iconic Triton’s fountain to the Christ the King monument along with trees and ponds and were built by Grandmaster Lascaris in 1656 for recreational use. The Mall Gardens were named in memory of the Knights of St. John’s favourite game, a game called Maglio which was popular with the residents. This game consisted of a large wooden ball being beaten along the path by a mallet and was scored similarly to golf. Walking through the paths, visitors can also find various statues of Maltese historical figures.
