Very interesting reconstruction of seven Viking houses, parts of which were found during excavations. The reconstruction was carried out taking into account the historical handicraft techniques and materials. You can get a good idea of the life of the Vikings on narrow plank paths between the plastered plastered walls of the houses. In the summer there is a large program of events in which the village is filled with life and you can watch the "residents" doing their old handicrafts or trade with them on market days.

Unlike in the exhibition house, you don't need a pre-booked time slot if you just want to visit the houses. In the winter half of the year, however, the houses in the outdoor area are closed.

Within walking distance of the Haithabu Viking Museum, a reconstructed Viking village with seven authentic houses brings the building skills of the Viking Age to life. In and around the Haithabu Viking Houses, real Vikings await you between April and October, giving you a vivid insight into life during that time.

If you don't want to wander through the museum completely alone, you can also use a well-developed audio guide, which covers not only the museum but also the outdoor grounds of Haithabu, across the semicircular wall to the Viking houses and the landing stage.

The audio guide not only provides information about the exhibits and the Haithabu trading center, but also a wealth of general information about the Vikings. It covers their gods and the diverse flora of yesteryear, which can be admired in the Haithabu Museum Garden.
