The Bocholt-Herentals Canal (also known as the Kempen Canal or the Maas-Scheldt Canal) is a canal in Belgium that connects the Zuid-Willemsvaart canal in Bocholt with the Albert Canal in Herentals, over a distance of approximately 57 kilometers. It is one of the seven Kempen canals between the Meuse and Scheldt rivers.

There will be one or two cyclists who find the paths along the canal a bit monotonous. But I like it a lot because the bike path is mostly under trees and provides shade, and the area is calming.

The Bocholt-Herentals Canal first formed part of the Kempische Vaart (1846). In the 1930s the western part was merged into the Albert Canal or was filled in. The eastern part remained, was widened and deepened (1926-8) and was given its current name. However, it then lost its role as the only waterway between the industry around Liège and the port of Antwerp. From now on, much traffic was taken over by the shorter and modern Albert Canal.
