The Vascári Sánc stretches for 8 km between Vasvár and Győrvár, which closed the natural route between the Rába and Zala watersheds. After the end of the western adventures, in the second half of the 10th century, the defense system was built. The Iron Gate was the only gateway that controlled the commercial and military road called the Soldiers' Road. This route went from the center of the country to northern Italy via Styria and Carinthia.
