On the trail of the pirate Störtebeker
The Piratenschlucht Sassnitz is said to be the place where the notorious buccaneer Klaus Störtebeker sought refuge and buried his treasures in the 14th century. In the old cliff there is a staircase that connects the Hochuferweg with the beach.
One of the most beautiful hikes in Germany is the path along the chalk coast in the Jasmund National Park.
If the weather conditions allow it, i.e. no extreme waves and not after rainy days or when the snow has melted, we can also walk along the path directly below the water. Here we have wonderful views of the imposing chalk cliffs and time and again we encounter natural works of art in the form of stone landscapes and old, fallen trees or washed-up remains of wood.
