If you walk between the old buildings, you will unexpectedly find yourself on the bridge over the Lauter and suddenly feel like you are in another world. The way the river is built between the houses gives the whole place a particularly beautiful atmosphere.

From the pictures here you can see why people here in Wissembourg also speak of "Little Venice", although the modest canal network is of course not comparable to Venice. In the background you can see the tower of the abbey church of St. Pierre et Paul.

The old houses in the town, many of which date back to the 16th century, and the floral decorations that are present everywhere in the town, make Wissembourg one of the most romantic towns in Alsace, and if there were no cars, you could think here and there that time had stood still.
