Nobody knows for sure whether this linden tree is really 1,000 years old and there is only one way to find out. But since the tree is a genuine natural monument, that is of course out of the question. Instead, you can enjoy standing in front of the officially largest tree in Germany. With a trunk circumference of 18 meters, it is also the thickest linden tree in Europe.

The Giant Linden to Heede, also called Lime Linde and Millennial Lime, is a protected natural monument in Heede. It is considered the largest lime tree in Europe. For centuries it has been the landmark and center of the village.
