The Dijle flows in front of you, behind it lies the fish market. You can, of course, also get fresh fish there. But above all you will find authentic "old" pubs and hip restaurants here. Real Burgundians still feel at home at the Fish Market.

The Vismarkt is a 16th century rectangular square, located on the northern bank of the Dyle. The Vismarkt is lined with brick quay walls and iron railings from the first quarter of the 20th century.
The fish market was originally located on the IJzerenleen. The odor nuisance bothered countless residents, including Margaret of Austria. A move was prevented by opponents until after Margareta's death. Part of the row of houses against the Dijle was demolished and the fish trade was held from 1531 on the cleared location, now the Vismarkt.
Until 2014, the Vismarkt fulfilled its function as a fishmonger with associated attractive catering establishments. Today the Vismarkt is a bustling district in the heart of the city.
The square is car-free and accessible to wheelchair users.
