The Bunder en Elsloër forest is the steepest sloped forest in the Netherlands, created by the riverbed of the Maas. Due to the solid soil conditions, the water does not penetrate far into the soil, but comes in many places by means of dams. sources back up. These form various streams in this forest. This special ecosystem is home to rare forest plants and aquatic animals such as newts and frogs. This piece of nature is so special that it has been included as a protected area by the European Union.
