Auguste Piccard had to make an emergency landing with his balloon on the Obergurgl glacier in 1931. The Piccard Bridge can be found very close to this point today (komoot.de/highlight/305458). The sphere next to the stylized bust is modeled on the capsule of the stratospheric balloon.
