The small town in Wales is known as the "Gateway to the Brecon Beacons", the mountain range in south-east Wales. Before you go there, Abergavenny is another welcome stop in civilization. The supermarket in particular pleases the cyclist (or, if it may be a longer break, one of the numerous restaurants). Speaking of food: Abergavenny is a good place to discover the new Welsh cuisine. Towards the end of the summer the famous Abergavenny Food Festival takes place here.
