For an early hike – to avoid the massive traffic later on the day – I can recommend to stay overnight at the Preikestolen Base camp. Very nice hotel with a great breakfast starting 6.30 am. The view of the breakfast table is amazing as well.

Neat and clean parking lot with a small hotel, a shop and a cafe overlooking a lake. We paid around €10 for a coke, a coffee and a latte. Affordable for Norway. From this parking lot you walk towards Preikestolen. There is a steep climb right at the beginning. Don't let this discourage you. It is worth it .. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes and take enough fluids with you.
