The hexagonal Shoemaker's Tower (Turnul Cizmarilor) at the northeast corner of the Castle Hill was first mentioned in 1521. It was destroyed by the explosion of the gunpowder stored there during the city fire of 1676 and rebuilt in 1680. Its Baroque stylistic elements also date from this period. The bastion for the artillery, which the tower housed, was demolished in 1846. The wooden external staircase was added in 2001.

Sighisoara is today the only inhabited citadel in Romania. When the wall was built, each of the city's guilds had to build a tower at their own expense and keep it in good condition.

Cobbler's Tower | Turnul Cizmarilor:

The hexagonal Cobbler's Tower is located on the north-eastern corner of the castle hill and is a later building. First mentioned in 1521, it was destroyed by fire in 1676 from stored gunpowder, rebuilt, expanded and remodeled in 1680. Its baroque style elements also date from this period. The tower also had a bastion for the artillery, but this was demolished in 1846. A wooden external staircase was added in 2001.
