Unfortunately, the museum and the adjoining restaurant were closed during my visit. But a lot is on display outside, so a visit outside the official opening hours is also worthwhile. These are from the 1st Saturday in April to the last Sunday in October. Saturday 9am-6pm and Sunday 9am-6pm.

For almost 20 years now, Günter Prazda has tracked down industrial and agricultural steam engines from the beginning of the industrial age all over Europe, made them functional with loving detail work and brought them together in a unique collection at the former Breitstetten station. The steam engine museum in Breitenstetten now houses the largest collection of steam engines in the German-speaking world. The restaurant Zum Ölkandl also belongs to the museum.
